Unitika’s activated carbon fiber (ACF) filters can be manufactured without the need for molds or dies.

This unique production method allows us to:

  • Fine-tune filter dimensions—such as diameter and length—with sub-millimeter precision.
  • Support small-lot manufacturing, even for orders of fewer than 1,000 units.

  1. 1. Understanding Requirements

    Please let us know your application and requirements
    (Target substances, flow rate, filter life, and filter dimension etc.)

  2. 2. Desingning & Prototyping

    We design and provide the initial prototype based on our lab data and 30+ years of experience.

  3. 3. Evaluation / Validation

    You evaluate the prototypes with regard to the adsorption performance and the fitting with your housing case. We will also perform in-house tests to see if the prototype works as designed.

  4. 4. Refining/ Finalizing

    We go through the test results with you and make any necessary adjustments to achieve the performance goal. Once we finalize the specifications, we start preparing the mass production.

Multi-Contaminant Removal

By combining activated carbon fiber (ACF) with various filtration media, our filter enables multi-contaminant removal within a single cartridge. On its own, ACF effectively removes chlorine, taste and odor compounds, organic substances, and PFAS such as PFOA and PFOS. When combined with other functional materials—such as ion exchange media, functional fibers, and nonwoven materials—the filtration capability is significantly expanded to include heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, and copper), fine particles, and other impurities. This integrated design delivers efficient and comprehensive drinking water filtration in one unit, eliminating the need for multiple filter stages.

Stable Flow Rate and Low Pressure Drop

Our filter utilizes activated carbon fiber (ACF) as its base material. Due to its fibrous structure and our unique manufacturing process, ACF provides excellent permeability, enabling high flow rates even when combined with other filtration media.
Unlike conventional systems that stack different materials, potentially creating gaps that lead to flow loss, our all-in-one molded design ensures uniform water flow paths and minimizes flow disruption.
